St. Thomas More High School has named Aliscia Benetti as its next principal. Currently the school’s dean of academics, Benetti will replace Patrick Idstein, who is returning to the classroom as a St. Thomas More social sciences teacher.
“As I have witnessed firsthand, St. Thomas More excels at providing students of all backgrounds with innovative academic opportunities while keeping Catholic faith at the forefront of their education,” Benetti said. “I am passionate about our school’s mission to create ‘men and women for all seasons,’ and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the St. Thomas More community as principal.”
Benetti joined the St. Thomas More staff in 2019 as a mathematics teacher. In 2022, she became dean of academics, a position she has held for the past two school years while continuing to teach computer science.
“St. Thomas More’s outstanding academic reputation is built upon the collective passion and dedication of educators past and present,” Benetti said. “I look forward to working with our teachers to not only maintain but strengthen this well-deserved reputation, helping prepare this generation of Cavaliers for success in the next stages of their lives.”
An alumna of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, Benetti holds a master’s degree in administrative leadership from Alverno College and a bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before coming to St. Thomas More, Benetti taught at MC2 High School and Greenfield Middle School.
“Along with her academic credentials and strong leadership skills, Aliscia brings the ability to think strategically with an eye on the future,” President John Hoch (TM ’87) said. “She has also developed the relationships and institutional knowledge that will benefit her immensely as principal.”
Benetti and her husband, Tim, live in Bay View with their three children, Mia (STM ’25), Sofia (STM ’25), and Cecilia, and are members of St. Matthias in Milwaukee. A lifelong Milwaukeean, she enjoys exploring the city and playing the double bass for local symphonies.
St. Thomas More is a Catholic, coeducational high school that inspires students to embrace the values of our Patron Saint by becoming men and women for all seasons.
