STM Seeks Donors’ Assistance to Fulfill Educators’ Requests

On Tuesday, December 3, St. Thomas More High School (STM) will join nonprofits across the world participating in GivingTuesday, the global day of giving and generosity. After the tremendous support for our past GivingTuesday campaigns, STM will again offer donors the opportunity to directly fund equipment, technology, and student experiences requested by our educators.
Beginning Tuesday, November 26, STM supporters can visit stmwishlist24.givesmart.com to view items selected personally by our teachers, coaches, and club moderators. By donating the cost of items from our GivingTuesday Teacher Wish List, supporters will “purchase” this equipment, service, or experience for STM students and faculty.

Items and experiences available for purchase include technology for STEM programs, equipment for our fitness center, and several student field trips, such as attending live performances of Shakespeare, viewing acclaimed works at the Milwaukee Art Museum, and a Milwaukee history trip inspired by John Gurda’s The Making of Milwaukee.

“STM’s GivingTuesday campaign allows donors to make a direct investment in our school and our students,” President John Hoch (TM ’87) said. “Our educators’ requests for support include not only equipment and technology but also outside-the-classroom experiences for their students, such as class field trips, admission to Cavalier playoff games, and participation in extracurriculars like theater and robotics, that make the high school experience so memorable.”

Immediately following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 to celebrate philanthropy and community, harnessing the collective power of individuals, neighborhoods, and organizations to encourage giving and highlight radical generosity worldwide. At least $3.1 billion was raised on GivingTuesday 2023 in the United States alone, with 34 million adults participating by offering gifts of time, voice, skills, goods, and money, as well as countless acts of kindness inspired by the movement.

STM has participated in the GivingTuesday movement since 2014. Donors have contributed over $150,000 in total to our GivingTuesday campaigns, including nearly $30,000 in 2023.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
