STM Welcomes Jim McLaughlin as New Senior Director of Development

St. Thomas More High School is excited to introduce Mr. Jim McLaughlin as the newest member of our leadership team, serving as our Senior Director of Development.
Jim is a lifelong advocate for Catholic education and a seasoned fundraising professional who brings with him over 11 years of nonprofit advancement experience, including nine years at United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. His deep commitment to education, fundraising expertise, and ability to engage donors will play a vital role in advancing St. Thomas More’s mission and supporting our students.

Jim’s background in Catholic education runs deep—he attended Saint Bede the Venerable and Marist High School in Chicago before earning both a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in education policy and leadership from Marquette University. He has worked as a teacher, journalist, fundraiser, and grant manager, all with the goal of supporting students and educators.

President John Hoch shared his enthusiasm for Jim’s arrival, stating:

“Jim McLaughlin is exactly the kind of leader we need to advance St. Thomas More’s mission. His strategic vision, deep experience in fundraising, and unwavering commitment to education will elevate our development efforts to new heights. Jim has a remarkable ability to connect with people—whether alumni, donors, or partners—and inspire them to invest in the future of our students. I have no doubt that he will be an invaluable asset as we continue to grow and strengthen our school community.”

Jim’s experience includes securing major gifts from the Milwaukee Bucks, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, BMO, and other individual donors who prioritize education. He is a strong advocate for teachers and has a unique ability to connect donors and supporters to the mission of Catholic education.

Jim himself is eager to take on this new role, saying:

“St. Thomas More is a school that is right for our time because it produces more than graduates. It makes servant leaders—men and women for all seasons—rooted in tradition, who understand the responsibilities we have to make the world the place we wish it to be for our families and communities.”

The timing of Jim’s arrival is perfect, as it gives him the opportunity to meet many of you at our upcoming Dinner Auction on April 12—one of STM’s most cherished annual traditions. We encourage you to attend and introduce yourself!

We are excited to welcome Jim to STM and invite our community to join us in embracing his leadership. We look forward to the many ways he will strengthen and expand development efforts at St. Thomas More!
