• How can an 8th grader prepare to join your program?

  Middle school students interested in STM baseball should be working on their hitting, fielding, and overall development while playing on their little league and/or travel teams. Around the neighborhood, players should play catch with a buddy whenever possible, go play strikeout against a wall, or go field groundballs and shag some popups at a nearby park…just play as much baseball as possible!
  
  Another area that players should be working on is their physical fitness so they can get faster and stronger on the ball field. Players have the opportunity to work out in the STM fitness center with Coach Litscher or Fricke by joining the middle school speed, strength, and agility summer program. Otherwise, players should be getting physically fit in the off-season, so they are ready to be in top physical shape once the season begins.

• What is the one thing you hope athletes take away from a season with you?

  Student athletes in the STM baseball program will learn life lessons in the value of hard work, commitment to their team, and being the best teammate and person possible.
  
  As famed University of Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido so eloquently stated: “Baseball is nothing more than another classroom in the educational process. Really, Baseball is a metaphor for life.”

• Why do you love coaching at STM?

  I love STM because the quality of character that our students possess. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be a role model that is one part of their continued development and I am also honored and humbled to be their coach.

• How would you describe the atmosphere and fellowship among your players?

  Being part of our STM baseball team is like having a second family. We try and foster an environment in which players becomes each other’s brothers who will hopefully develop lifelong friendships and bonds with their teammates.
