Art Show Detail

Berenise Ochoa

I’ve always used art as a form of self-expression, especially when I was younger and barely starting out in my art journey. When I first started creating art, I was creating out of boredom. I would doodle on my notebooks and even on my classwork, but as I grew older my art started to turn into a way to express myself. When I got more into it, I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted to improve in anatomy, color theory, and in other aspects of my art but I was never given the opportunity until I got into high school. I liked taking art classes and improving my art, I liked sharing with others and observing other people’s art. I have always been drawn to art whether it would be in animation, posters, or even videogames, I always saw art everywhere I went.

In my works, I feel as if I include a little bit of myself in each of them even if it’s a small detail. I was more drawn to stylized art. I like how artists and illustrators always include some part of their personality in their works. Even if some of my works were created in boredom, I’m still proud of them because I always try to include my time and effort into all of my works. Sometimes my works do require more planning, to try and get them perfect. I do make artwork inspired by the same idea multiple times to have variation in my process. I do love art with all of my being, but sometimes it can be frustrating. Sometimes no matter how much I try or how many different materials I go through, my artwork may not come out the way I wanted it to. It can be frustrating to put so much work into something just for it to fall apart and not work out.

Even though art can be frustrating, art is very important to me. Art has been there for when no one else was, when I felt like I had no one to talk to, and I’ve been creating art since I was in elementary school. I find art fascinating, and I also find artists fascinating, how artists just have an idea and can create something from it. I eventually want to go to art school and further pursue my art. I want to join a bigger community of artists and I want to learn and grow with them. I want to pursue a career as an illustrator and create stories with my art that I can share with others.
