Art Show Detail

Jolette Moreno

All this time, I’ve tried creating pieces that are perfect. I’ve tried recreating pieces that already exist out in the world just to say I have a piece. I never realized that art needs to come from you. Throughout this semester, art has truly made me open and express myself. At first, I struggled with deciding on what I wanted to make. I saw others do these amazing pieces that looked like they didn’t struggle while making it and I thought that making art was an easy process. I wanted to only make pieces that either connected with everybody else or that were pretty and perfect. It never crossed my mind that every artist has something to say when creating a piece. It never crossed my mind that every artist has a passion that they want to show the world.

Something that Ms. B taught me is to always art your heart out. To not be scared to
be vulnerable. To not be scared to show your true self. It was a challenge at first but trying new things helped me see who I was. I tried charcoal for the first time, and I absolutely loved it, and I didn’t even know I loved charcoal. Just by trying new things, I slowly saw what I loved. With my pieces, I wanted to tell the world about what I loved in my life. I wanted to show everyone the bits and pieces that make my life complete. And I did this by only using charcoal because that was the thing that made me understand to always enjoy what you do. The lessons throughout this whole semester were a struggle to face but it made me learn that not everyone needs to connect with you or what you do. Knowing who you are and sharing that in your own ways will always be the thing that makes everyone unique. And with that, I hope you enjoy this art show and truly see how unique everyone is.
