St. Thomas More High School is pleased to highlight Leigha Wardlow ('27), an exceptional senior who is a true Cavalier. She has consistently set high standards for herself by combining rigorous academics with an active athletic career. Leigha gives her full commitment both on the court and on the track as an important member of the varsity girls' basketball team, where she has been named a three-time Honorable Mention All-Conference selection, and of the varsity track and field team, where she has already qualified for the state twice and holds three school records. Outside of sports, Leigha is involved in her school community as a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and the National Honor Society (NHS), and she also works at Tuckaway Country Club during both the summer and the school year.

For Leigha, what it means to be a Cavalier is to be part of a community, to achieve personal growth and to form genuine connections. She credits STM with giving her the opportunity to excel both at school and in sports, and she shows her appreciation for the support network that helps her cope with difficulties and stay balanced. Leigha enjoys taking part in a wide range of activities because she believes they help her better understand different points of view. Long ago, Clare Reszel had to decide which high school would influence her future. She chose St. Thomas More, graduated in 2009, and now brings thirteen years of teaching experience back to those same STM hallways as the head of our social sciences department. Her path is a strong example of Cavalier pride, showing the lasting impact of an STM education to a new generation of students making that same decision today.

Ms. Reszel’s academic achievements, such as her degrees from Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, her role as an Advanced Placement Government Reader, and her elite national fellowships with the Jack Miller Center, make STM incredibly proud. Yet her real contribution lies in the way she gives back to the community that raised her. She truly reflects the dedication and spirit that characterize our school culture. The school thanks Ms. Reszel for inspiring the entire community to show MORE Cavalier pride every day.

St. Thomas More High School is proud to feature Max Lelinski, a senior whose strong ties to the school and his leadership on campus perfectly reflect the spirit of our school’s legacy. Max's connection to STM is part of a family tradition; he is the 22nd member of the Lelinski family to have attended Thomas More or one of its predecessor schools. The halls of the school that he now walks have been inhabited by numerous relatives, reaching as far back as his grandfather, Tom Lelinski (DB '56 and ‘06 Hall of Fame Inductee), who was an All-Conference football center while in school and went on to serve for 35 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, working closely with local youth. His grandpa, like many other Lelinski family members, set a powerful example that Max carries forward today.

At school, Max puts into practice the same community-oriented attitude as his grandfather by having a highly active high school career. As president of the student council, a member of NHS and the SADD Club, and a competitor in varsity track and field and powerlifting, he consistently and humbly leads his peers. He also volunteers at school events such as the freshman retreat, serves as catering lead at the Milwaukee County Zoo, and cheers for his classmates at most STM athletic games. Because of his commitment to excellence, he has received highest honors for all three years of high school.

We are grateful to Max for the excellent leadership he has shown as a student, for ensuring that his family's remarkable tradition of service continues, and for inspiring his classmates each day. Thank you, Max, for helping us all discover MORE about our legacy through your example.

St. Thomas More High School proudly highlights Chris Clarey, a real cornerstone of our community whose life and career perfectly reflect the essence of the school’s legacy. Since he is a graduate of the class of 1987, his connections with the school go back a long way. Having been actively involved in STM's fitness and health department for 27 years, he still pours his enthusiasm into the school he has always regarded as his home.

The effect of Mr. Clarey’s work goes well beyond the classroom. For many years, he has helped shape generations of young leaders, serving in the past as head football coach and assistant basketball coach for the Cavaliers. His deep commitment to our mission is fully realized in his three children, all of whom have followed in his example and are now proud St. Thomas More graduates.

We would like to express our most sincere thanks to Mr. Clarey for the many decades of devoted leadership he has shown, for the wonderful example set by his family, and for the endless inspiration he gives our community. St. Thomas More High School is excited to welcome junior Sho Orihara, an international student who has joined our community for the next two years after moving from Tokyo, Japan. Though he arrived just three weeks ago, Sho brings a wealth of global perspective, having spent four years attending two different international schools and speaking three languages: Japanese, Chinese, and English. His passion for STEM and cross-cultural connection shines through his impressive background, which includes participating in hackathons and recently winning a project-based mathematics competition in Japan. He is eager to bring these skills to the STM Robotics Club.

The school community is looking forward to learning from Sho's diverse experiences, hearing about his life in Tokyo, and seeing his dedication to growth as he prepares for an American university. St. Thomas More High School is excited to welcome back teacher and coach David Marsicek, who has rejoined the social sciences department after spending the 2025–2026 academic year teaching at QSI International School of Tirana in Albania. For more than twenty years, Marsicek has inspired students with his dedication, curiosity, and love of learning. His passion for international education and cross-cultural experiences has taken him around the globe, including a memorable chapter at Gibson Youth Academy in Ethiopia from 2006 to 2007, which continues to shape the perspectives he brings to the classroom today. The school community is looking forward to hearing Mr. Marsicek's stories, learning from his global adventures, and seeing the world through his eyes. St. Thomas More Announces the Passing of Long-Time Custodian Jim Mueller

MILWAUKEE, AUGUST 18TH, 2026 — St. Thomas More High School is saddened to share the passing of Jim Mueller, long-time afternoon-evening custodian at the school. The school found out the news late yesterday, on the first day of school for our students. Mueller started working at STM back in the 90s and has battled major health issues throughout the years, including a heart attack years ago.

“Jim Mueller, a fixture in the afternoon and evening hours at St. Thomas More for over three decades because of the position he held since 1991, was someone who took great pride in his employment and enjoyed his relationships with TM Staff, students, and parents,” said John Hoch, President at STM, when reflecting on Mueller’s passing. “He particularly loved attending our theatrical performances and all home sports contests. He would proudly boast after big wins that “we defended our turf.” He will be greatly missed. On behalf of the St. Thomas More community, I offer our deep condolences to his family.”

Mueller was truly a gem of a person, inside and out. His passing hits very close to home for the STM family.
