Catholic Conference Champions

The Dons of the mat exhibited an aggressive style under the coaching tutelage of Dick Flayter, Tom Hibner, and volunteer assistant Bob Flayter, piling up an 8-2-1 mark in dual meets while grabbing a second straight Catholic Conference Tournament Trophy. Senior Tom Giorgi (188 weight class) was head and shoulders above the competition going a perfect 30-0, winning all six tournaments he entered. Tom was named Outstanding Wrestler in the WISAA State Tournament. He won the majority of his matches throughout the year by pin. Junior Mark Giorgi (178 weight class) also grabbed state honors and racked up 13 pins in the season. The hard-working Al Ryback (130 weight class) muscled his way to a second place finish in the state tournament.
