Catholic Conference Champions

Dominant is the word that best describes the team that went 7-0 for Coach Haluksa on its way to the title. Using a stifling defense, the Dons put the hurt on each and every foe, outscoring them 110-19. Season highlights include a 20-7 win over MUHS in front of 8,000+ fans and a 7-6 win over Pius XI. In that game, Coach Haluska’s “quick kick” play was implemented on third down from the seven. The ball traveled 83 yards, sealing the close win. Assistant coaches Ron Fieber and Andy Stefan had this disciplined bunch running like a fine-oiled machine that struck fear when even rivals like MUHS, Puis XI, and Catholic Memorial looked at the schedule. The roster was packed with many familiar names. First Team All-Conference honors went to ends Dale Boguszewski and Tom Mihm, guard Dan Wied, and running back/linebacker Mark Mulqueen, of who Haluska said, “He was the best I ever coached at Don Bosco.”
