Catholic Conference Champions
The Don Bosco Cagers earned their fourth title in five years with a 13-3 mark, this time under new head coach Ed Callahan. Brother Eugene Sohm, S.M., assisted the effort having coached the Missouri State Championship in 1940 at McBride High School. Highlights included a pair of wins over Racine St. Catherine (59-35, 53-52), Pius XI (64-57), and St. John’s Cathedral (54-48). Don Polachek and Tony Kujawa reprised their honors from the previous season and were named to the All-Conference and All-State Tournament teams. Bosco finished fourth in the state tournament held at St. Norbert’s College after dropping a 74-62 decision to Notre Dame.
