Sam Cook was at the helm as the 1952 Basketball Dons won their first ever Catholic Conference title. The Bosco ‘5’ reeled off victories in their first eleven games. Dean Dziczkowski led the squad in scoring, including a record (later broken by Don Kojis) 34 points in a game. Dziczkowski was named All-Conference and All-State for his efforts on a team that also featured Marv Platz, Billy Rubin, and Jack Kloza. In the state tournament, Cook’s Charges dropped a close one to LaCrosse Acquinas, 50-47, before bouncing back 49-43 over Menasha St. Mary’s and beating Prairie du Chein Campion 43-35 to take the Consolation title.
