AP Studio Artist – Angeliz Colon (STM ’21)

In my art, I wanted to capture the feelings of being at a place of peace. Keeping a more whimsical theme, I went about capturing in emotions that I feel before and after that place of peace. I wanted to capture this because these thoughts always seem to consume my thinking and I wanted to express that in my art, hoping to organize and put images to my feelings.

It first started with this poem expressing the feelings of letting go. “She dreams, wishing to know every possible outcome. Lost in her thoughts; thoughts scattered in the whisper of the wind. Standing in the loud silence. Hearing the wind, telling her to hush and trust.”

I had the inspiration to envelope the figure in nature, trying to capture the beauty of nature and the emotions I feel. I used watercolor, acrylic paint and colored pencil to develop my compositions. I did not create traditional landscapes but played with the positive and negative space in the composition, combining nature and feeling into one space.

  5. Fantastic Job! Definently pulled emotions into your PIECES. USING THE ROSE IN ISOLATE shows how our inner beauty is trapped when we choose to isolate ourselves from others. Love the movement in reanimate. Great job!
