We are excited to announce the creation of the Leonard Gigowski Scholarship Fund, which will award partial scholarships to St. Thomas More students beginning with the 2017-18 school year. The scholarships, ranging from one third to one-half the cost of tuition, may benefit as many as 165 students annually in grades 9 to 12, including incoming students.
The Gigowski Scholarship Fund will provide financial support to St. Thomas More students who demonstrate:
• A continuous pursuit for academic excellence and growth;
• Strong character traits, including courage, responsibility, and humility;
• Significant community involvement; and
• A need for financial assistance.
Covering the cost of tuition can be a significant burden for many families. The Gigowski Scholarship Fund will provide many more St. Thomas More students with the support to finance four years of an education at one of Milwaukee’s leading Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high schools.
Leonard Gigowski graduated from St. Francis Minor Seminary – a predecessor school to St. Thomas More – in 1943. After graduating, Leonard spent several years in the US Navy, including serving in World War II. After his time in the military, he returned to Milwaukee and enjoyed success as an entrepreneur. Leonard remained active in his alma mater, winning our Chancellor Award in 2010 and celebrating his 90th birthday with our students and faculty in April 2015. Leonard passed away in July 2015, leaving behind many friends.
As one of the most passionate supporters of St. Thomas More High School, Leonard truly believed that a Catholic well-rounded education can transform the lives of young people. This gift ensures that your students will be able to enjoy a transformative Catholic high school education for many years to come.
We are so very excited to be able to announce this within our community. For more information, please visit our Tuition and Scholarships page. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like additional information.
